At the last meetings of Friends of Turtle Creek it was suggested by Dean Paynter that it would be easier to plan and enjoy your paddle trip if you knew which bridge you were going under. Also, the marking adds a layer of safety, as it helps paddlers identify better where they are, and if they get into trouble, it’s easier to assist them.
Dean is working his way through the various processes of getting permission to stencil highway or road names on the bridges so it would be visible to paddlers. He received permission from Walworth DOT and will continue to seek approvals and then proceed to stencil bridges all the way down to South Beloit. Thanks for pursuing this Dean!
“So is that guy in the waders stuck in the Turtle Creek shoreline mud picking berries OR is he preparing to get to the bridge to do some stenciling? Stenciling was done Highway 14 and Highway 11 bridges today. Not only did we have WIS-DOT approval we had the work done by a real life Paynter – I mean Painter.” ~ submitted by Tom Presny
