Trip report – 9/16/15 – Town of Turtle Launch on Creek Road to The Confluence, Dickop Street, So. Beloit, IL. – water level 3.7ft.

TIP: At this water level this trip is not as pleasant, as you’ll get hung up in more places that you’d like. I recommend at least 4 ft. to enjoy this section. (click here to check level)

This section that winds through the City of Beloit and ends in South Beloit, IL at the Confluence is very pretty and winding. There is one major blockage just after the Colley Road Bridge that will require an easy portage. There are a few other tight spots caused by downed trees.

On the day we went the creek was very low (3.7 ft at gauge at Carvers Rock). I took a person out on the creek for their first time in a kayak. What is typically a beautiful paddle trip was marred by her getting stuck more than 20 times on rocks! I recommend you check for a bit higher water level before heading out on this trip.

Here’s some great, detailed trip reports from the Miles Paddled website.
